Marshall Wolfe were delighted to attend BT’s Women in Tech event held at Adastral Park this week.
Liz Walker, Elaine Noske and Rachel Higham all gave us an insight into their careers within the technology industry and the journey within BT.
It was a great opportunity to hear about the personal growth within this industry, especially for Liz who spent time in America and Germany before qualifying as a solicitor. Liz, now the General Counsel at BT Global Services, gave some key reflections and advice for aspiring women:
“If the opportunity opens more doors than it closes, go for it;
Believe in yourself;
It is OK to be you.”
For Marshall Wolfe, the ‘Inspired’ smartphone application captures stories like the inspirational women in BT. This can showcase not only women in tech, but also journeys from talented, influential individuals in any business.
Margaret Burnside, Director of Cake PD, also gave an interactive training session on networking and the most effective ways to bridge new connections. Margaret mentioned a quote which is very relevant for networking in today’s generation:
“If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” – African Proverb.
