With Pride Month well underway, we have been educating ourselves and our team at Marshall Wolfe. So, as well as the flags, the rainbow cake, and the colourful clothes (all showing our outward support), we have been doing the internal work to match, and held a discussion and learning session with the whole team.
We discussed what it means to be an Ally, and like many other companies, we knew it was a necessity to talk about LGBTQ+ inclusion in the workplace and what this looks like. We looked at understanding the history of Pride and LGBTQ+ rights, and their significance today, as well as using some great online resources in recognising and understanding terminology – thanks to UK charity Stonewall
In our office we are always chatting about the latest films and what we watched on TV last night, so it was great to have everyone recommending TV series or films that now show a wider LGBTQ+ representation. Of course, we also had the cake, the pride themed crosswords, and wordsearches to bring out the competitive nature of our team too.
We strive to attract the best talent for Marshall Wolfe, and by demonstrating we have an inclusive workplace environment, we hope to encourage everyone who feels aligned with our values to bring their whole self and their application to us.
If you’d like to hear more about our session, the resources we used, or would like some great TV recommendations do get in touch as we would love to have these discussions not just in Pride month but all year round.
