It’s always good to reflect, 6 months at Marshall Wolfe have flown by and I can safely say every day is different! Although there have been some ups and downs (which is common in recruitment!) I am very lucky to have such a supportive team around me.
I’ve had the opportunity to build up relationships with my clients and some of the best talent in the industry…and it feels fantastic when my hard works pays off and I get to see a great client gain a great individual in their organisation.
Marshall Wolfe is built on referrals and recommendations; by meeting in person and building those connections of trust! I must admit, the first networking event I attended was terrifying! I had so many thoughts going around my head; what happens if no one wants to talk to me?! What happens if I say the wrong thing?! But… after attending a few I certainly started to feel more relaxed in my approach.
From a NorDev conference in Norwich, to a Technology Day Expo event at Adastral Park, to attending the new Innovation Lab at the University of Suffolk. It seems, for now at least, the covid days are in the past and the days of trying to speed-network online are almost over. I was able to meet local companies, chat to enthusiastic students, and listen to inspiring talks. Where else is there an opportunity to learn about the future of work, machine learning techniques, and debates on Crypto.

From what I’ve learned so far, my top tip if you’re new to networking is engage with people in the room; make the first move to talk to the person next to you. Everyone is there for the same reason as you, to connect with new people! You’ll only regret the conversations you didn’t have!
